After spending the day with Mikey (Henry J) he drove us to Vistamare a paladar right on the water overlooking the Atlantic. We invite him to lunch and his next words deeply touched me. He ask us to dinner at his house to meet his family for real Cuban food. We gracefully excepted and thank him for his generosity. I mentioned we would be dress so afterwards he said he would drive us to the Tropicana.
He picked us up at the hotel at 6:30 sharp. He repeated to me that where he lived was normal and his family are normal people. I said I would rather spend time with normal Cuban people that all the hotels in Havana. The meal was fantastic. Two kinds of pork, which I loved, chicken, fried bananas, tamale, and of course rice and beans. Desert was a wonderful flan and I hate flan and ice cream ending with espresso. WOW, what a feast from this wonderful warm Cuban family.
His family is his wife, married daughter, her husband and six year old younger daughter. His apartment was painted in tropical colors warm and inviting.
I cannot begin to tell you how touch I was by his generous offer.
