Sarah survives and walks again....

Unbelievable, I know. My lovely wife is not her father's daughter when it comes to walking. Maybe that is an unfair comparison as Bill can walk men and women a third of his age into the ground. It must be Havana and the wanting to see and do it all that has Sarah charged with energy.

We leave the Nacional and immediately comes into view our ride. I should say my ride, Sarah really has not much interest in driving in Classic Cars. Maybe it is a guy thing, but I am not much of a car guy. I find it wonderful to drive in these cars because where else in the world would you be able to do so? I know of no other place and except for a museum or car show you rarely see these Classic beauties. I am a romantic in how I view the world around me. Riding in these cars is like being in an old Hollywood movie. The car we take is a pink, 1927 Ford convertible in beautiful condition. Yes, photos will follow...

We begin our walk starting at the monument where the Maine Battleship was curiously sunk in 1898 and so entered America with Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders to "liberate" Cuba from the Spanish. I chose this as the second walk because it continues of a main road passing the a number of great sights: Presidential Palace of the dictator Castro unseated Batista; the weeding cake of a building known as the Spanish Embassy; moving up to the Revolution museum with the original boat that Castro sailed to Cuba in to begin the revolution; passed a interesting church I have yet to be able to enter; venturing into the Hotel Sevilla where Al Capone rented the entire 6th floor in 1927 and more importantly has a beautiful Moorish tiled theme lobby; visiting the Art Deco masterpiece that is the Bacardi building; stopping and talking and listening to State sponsor baseball fans allowed to congregate and argue baseball in the center of the Parch Central; taking some photos in front of the ornate National Ballet Theatre; stopping of course at the rooftop bar overlooking the Old Capital in the Hotel Saratoga; Finally, the numerous decrepit, restored and in the process of restoration building along both sides of the street as we walked.

We would walked back down towards our water's edge starting point a different street to get a look at the architecture.

As you would imagine our Sarah by now is exhausted. I recommend going back to the hotel to hang and relax then dinner at a wonderful Paladar tonight. She agrees wholeheartedly and we hail a classic car cab and we are on our way.
