Real Jamaica II: Bob Marley

I enjoy Bob Marley and realize his importance in Jamaican culture as well as music history. I think part of me was craving a more authentic Jamaican experience where you not only meet "real" Jamaicans but you mingle with and get a true sense of their culture. I'm amazed by how international Jamaica is. The mostly African population is mixed with people of Asian, Spanish, and Indian descent. The colors of the flag represent the the country's legacy, history and agriculture--Yellow (the sun) Black (the peoples struggle) and Green (the land). Vacationing within the walls of any resort is great for chillin' out, grazing the day away, and enjoying yourself. But if you want a more cultural experience you have to find a trustworthy guide, make friends with the locals, venture out, use common sense and of course, have fun.

On that note we continue our drive along mountain rod for over an hour and a half. We pass some truly Jamaican towns that are a confused kaleidoscope of jumbled architecture, stores and people just hanging out. We reach the house and are immediately offered pot to smoke. I guess it is keeping with the Marley theme. We get our tickets and walk through what else --- a gift shop...We did buy Sarah a cheesy T-shirt with Bob Marley on the front so she can sleep in it and keep warm. I guess she is her dad's daughter after all. Yes, even on a Caribbean Island my wife is cold. I am still wondering how Sarah will pack her many new purchases in her bag...we shall see...

We climb a bunch of stairs as we want for our tour guide. Our tour guide attempts at constant macho humor wears on me. One of his poor jokes was about someone dying and how he prefers dying with Three women in his bed. Why is it always men who say such stupid sexual prowess jokes? Women have their own levels of nonsense but nowhere near that degree. I yell out to bust his chops, what only three women? Not much of a tour but it was a nice drive and still better than visiting the "falls"

I looked back and realized how cheesy our picture in front of the CC mural looks. I guess every numb skull tourist does that cheesy nonsense. Oh well, an entire trip can't be filled with Historical importance.
