La Guarida remember that name if you decide to visit Havana and want an interesting meal. You have to walk of three flights of a beautiful marble staircase. The second floor as Doric columns reach to 18-20 foot ceilings with plaster ornamental moulding that no way will we see again in the age of straight up and down, glass structures. Here was craftsmanship but all gone to to seed since the revolution. Holes in walls and wooded slats showed through falling plaster ceilings. The third floor led into Paladar La Guardia. At first glance after our taxi drops us off, Sarah probably is wondering "What am I doing at this dump." Her minor distraught feelings turn to amazement as she begins the walk up the three flights of stairs to the restaurant. each floor is a photo opportunity dream. We reach the restaurant crowded with people and find a seat. A waitress comes over and brings us Mojitos as we wait. Photos of famous people graced the walls of those who made the journey. The beautiful interior had all original woodwork. The food.....delicious but without further ado here are the photos, no way I did this faded beauty justice.
Happy Girl
