I purchased a Cuban Spanish Conversation Guide. It is helpful, sort of. Under "Popular Phrases. Expressions" on the first page it offers a popular phrase "She looks older than she is." This is a popular Cuban phrase ?!?!! And, based on my up close and personal experience with Latino men for the past seven years, this simply does no ring true. Compliments of beauty and charms are more popular often the theme. I am convinced a sly and playful writer slipped this phrase in for the lazy reader and has had a few good laughs over the years knowing the discord he has caused. Maybe even a few slapped faces occurred due to his fun and games.
