Sarah's comments on iconic Havana Architecture

One of the interesting things I noticed, while standing with my mouth gaping open looking at the architecture, is ordinary people are living in these buildings. They are hanging-out and leaning on gorgeously decorated balconies enjoying the air. They have their laundry hanging out to dry. When we went to the restaurant that was in the dilapidated building on the third floor, we passed by a whole in the wall and saw a man sitting on his sofa watching TV. In fact he was nude. He glanced at us and went back to watching TV. Many of the mansions have no doors and people live in them in whichever parts of the buildings have survived the erosion of time. It is a wild juxtaposition seeing mansions filled with ordinary people. It is a visual reminder this is Cuba.
